I painted it in the image of Mukaebi for Obon.* This piece is currently on display at Chuwa Gallery and is available for purchase until the 31st of July. (Closed on 22nd, 23rd, and 25th of July)
The Obon, the three-day celebration in Japan, traditionally begins with Mukaebi. And these small fires are lit to welcome the spirits home.
