絵本の表紙を作ってみました
2024年こそ、「白い犬」の絵本を描いてみたいと思っていたので、去年からアイディアを少しずつ温めていたんです。そんな折、2023年11月末、絵本の日に講談社さんからオムニバス絵本雑誌「さがるまーた」が刊行されました。（お子さんから絵本好きの大人まで楽しめるもので、絵本への愛情が隅々まで詰まっている感じがしました）この雑誌についていた豪華付録の一つ、白い絵本を使ってはじめて制作した表紙が今回の作品です。

中身について少し解説を…
タイトルは「なにしよか？」にしました。英語だとWhat can we do?。動詞がdoなのがミソでして、絵本の中身のヒントにもなっています。
テーブルの上のごろごろ野菜。一見わくわくしそうな光景に見えるのですが、よく見ると芽が出ていたり、緑になっていたり😅、カサカサになっていたりします。そして白い犬たちは何やら真剣に考えている様子。
さて、彼らはこの後どうするのでしょうか？どうにかして全部食べきっちゃう？捨てちゃう？それとも…？ぜひこのあと何が起こるのか、想像してみてください！
📣こちらの絵本「なにしよか？」はまだ中身を描き始めていないのですが、すでに展開は考え済です♪なぜか奥付（発刊年などが書いてあるページ）横の挿絵、裏表紙の構図・アイディアまで思いついていて、早く描きたいなぁ〜という気持ちでいっぱいです。
現在は次回の個展3/20〜@ギャラリー子の星さん（このあと告知します）に向けて新作絵画を準備中なので、この「なにしよか？」の中身の発表はまだ先になるかもしれません。でも、こちらの表紙は子の星さんで展示しますので、どうぞお楽しみに！
I made a picture book cover!
I'd kept thinking that 2024 would be the year I wanted to make a picture book with my "The White Dog" series. So I have also been gradually working on some ideas since last year.
Then, by chance, I learned that Kodansha had published "Sagarmatha*" in November 2023. This magazine came with a white picture book as a supplement. I thought this was a great opportunity to try. So, I made this.
* This magazine is an omnibus of picture books made for everyone, not only for kids but for adults who are fond of picture books.

A little explanation about my book 👩🏫
I named the Japanese title 「なにしよか？」meaning "What can we do?" in English. I chose the verb "do" as it can be a clue to the content for the readers.
You can see the table with so many veggies, which looks intriguing at first glance. But if you look closely, some start to sprout, and some are dried. And the facial expression of The White Dogs also seems like they're contemplating something.
Imagine, are they going to eat all somehow? Throw them away? Or...? What do you think they're going to do with them?
Let's think about what's going on!
📣I haven't started drawing the contents of this yet, but I have also had some rough sketches for the contents and even concrete ideas for the colophon or the back cover. I can't wait to develop the book!
Currently, I'm preparing new paintings for my next solo exhibit on March 20-25, 2024 @Gallery Nenohoshi , so I may not be able to show the contents of this book until then. But at least I'd like to exhibit this cover work at the venue, so please look forward to seeing it!
